Tamara Thompson Investigations has met clients' information needs for 25 years, through civil trial preparation, witness interviews and research on individuals, businesses, products and circumstances affecting clients' cases. We tailor an investigative strategy to your objectives, applying our recognized expertise in Internet research, utilization of proprietary data sources and field-based information gathering.
Known for intelligent and creative case analysis, Tamara Thompson Investigations consults with you to map an investigative strategy and identify potentially fruitful approaches. We meet your information needs by developing deep background on individuals and companies related to assets, interests, activity, political and social associations, employment, litigation and business history, reputation and ownership.
We also specialize in Internet research and incorporate this in our due diligence reports. Social network / social media research -- Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram -- extends other sources for finding people, friends, witnesses, former employees, incriminating statements and company background. I also have access to specialty databases and newspaper indexes. I prepare due diligence declarations, which include an account of searches conducted on search engines -- Google, Yahoo, Bing -- and attempts the investigator has made to find people through online sources.
I identify the names of adoptees and birth parents of children relinquished for adoption who were born in California. I locate people nationwide for whom there is no last known address or whose identifiers are limited or old, as in the case of a birth parent or adoptee born in the decades of 1940, 1950 and 1960. I conduct interviews with all parties to facilitate reunion. I own microfiche of historical marriages and statewide divorces, indexes of all births and mother's maiden names.
Probate attorneys handling estate matters often need to research family history to identify an heir or beneficiaries. Genealogical searches are conducted nationwide utilizing court, birth, death, marriage, census, naturalization, ship passenger, military, historical newspaper and other archived records. I design family tree charts and verify the relationships. The Mormon maintained Family History Center is in Oakland, which is where I am based. The Federal Records Center is also in the San Francisco Bay Area and archives military, bankruptcy, census and other historical documents. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists.
I have presented seminars for the State Bar of California, the California Association of Licensed Investigators, the National Lawyers Guild and the Northern California Association of Certified Fraud Examiners on Investigating People On The Internet, Database and Internet Research, How Attorneys and Investigators Can Work Together and The Future of Public Records. My articles, "Due Diligence with Social Networks" and "Cut to the Chase: A Primer for Using Public Records Databases", were published in Law Technology News. The Contra Costa Times profiled me in a front page article titled, Privacy Predicaments Catch Gumshoe's Eye.
Topics I write about in my blog, PIbuzz.com, are on social media investigations, accessing public records and using databases for researching people and businesses.
I'm the past Editor for the California Association of Licensed Investigators publication, the CALI Journal.
