Legislative Day Report
2012
One of CALI's main goals is the representation of our industry in the legislative arena. We accomplish this goal through many means, one of which is our annual Leg Day. This year, on March 19, over 50 members from throughout the state converged on Sacramento for CALI's Leg Day. The event this year was held at the C-Sac Center in Sacramento from where we walked to the Capitol and met with our representatives and/or their staff to discuss those issues that have an impact on our industry. Some of the old familiar faces joined us but also some new ones that will no doubt one day themselves be considered those old familiar faces.
Our main topic this day was the CALI supported AB 1720 which would give licensed private investigators access to gated communities to serve proves. By the reports we heard back, every representative we spoke with supports us in this effort.
This year, prior to the event, I had the honor to attend a few district meetings throughout the state and do a presentation regarding the history and goals of Leg Day. Other members such as Jim Zimmer, Jan Tucker and Francie Koehler made the presentation at other meetings when I was not able to do so.
Sponsorships brought in a total of $2,775 this year which helped to offset the event cost of $4,378. This only goes to emphasize the great importance of sponsorships to this event, an event that is free to members. If you have not done so in the past, please consider being a sponsor next time.
My thanks to Desmond and Associates and their entire team, Francie Koehler and the Leg Committee, our sponsors, and of course, all those who attended this year. We look forward to seeing you, and hopefully some new faces, next year.
Respectfully submitted,
Frank W. Huntington, III
