V.P. of Administrative Services

Friday, July 26, 2013

Thank you CALI Members for the opportunity to represent you as V.P. of Administrative Services. Previously, I was elected San Diego District Director two years ago. Prior to my election, the San Diego District averaged less than 10 persons per meeting. Since, the San Diego District has averaged over 25 members per meeting. We, at the San Diego District, have since initiated the CALI at Petco Park luxury suite ballgame, San Diego Padres v Los Angeles Dodgers, with guest speakers the Directors of Security for both organizations. http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/sd/ticketing/suites.jsp

In addition, we have established an annual ‘Toys for Tots’ http://www.toysfortots.org meeting in coordination with the United States Marine Corp at MCAS Miramar http://www.mccsmiramar.com/oclub.html

Furthermore, our guest speakers have included the San Diego District Attorney’s Office http://www.sdcda.org, United States Navy SEAL executive protection experts http://www.eagleeyesecuritysolutions.com, Investigation Incident Scene solutions http://www.trancite.com/pro_spd.php, Information Systems services http://www.pdjservices.com, and an annual ‘meet and greet’ with the Sheriff of San Diego County http://www.sdsheriff.net/commandstaff/gore.html

Our venues have been at 5 star gourmet locations such as The Searsucker http://www.searsucker.com, the Hotel Solamar http://www.hotelsolamar.com, and the Jolly Roger http://www.jollyrogerrestaurants.com/a_oceanside.html

The San Diego District provides members with CALI ID cards, guest speakers with awards, all participants with CEU Certificates and encourages coordination with other like minded associations such as ASIS San Diego http://www.sdasis.org. CALI has been present at the ASIS Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and is now an integral part of relations with San Diego Law Enforcement community.

Finally, the San Diego District’s 2013/2014 CALI year includes special guests California Assemblyperson Rocky Chavez, United States Congressman Duncan Hunter, United States Congressman Darrell Issa, as well as San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore and FBI Special Agent in Charge Daphne Hearn. Educational Guests include, PDJ Services, Eagle Eye Global, and A-T Solutions, with new venues The Azure Seas Yacht http://www.azureseascruises.com and the Beach House Cardiff by the Sea www.thebeachhouse.com

As your VP of Administrative Services I intend to bring this active involvement and enthusiasm to all thirteen CALI Districts- The Foundation of CALI, and visit up to six districts this year, as well as 6 districts next year if re-elected. In addition, I plan on enrolling the support of the two Directors at Large to each visit up to six Districts this year to encourage and support the Governors and Directors.

Furthermore, I encourage all Governors and Directors to support one another to improve District attendance by selecting excellent meeting venues and inviting Special guests and Educational Guests to all meetings.

A good leader leads by example- this past CALI conference in Santa Clara had an attendance for the President’s Banquet two Governors (out of 13), and five Directors. I strongly encourage and support PERFECT attendance by our elected Governors and Directors to attend next year’s 2013/2014 conference and President’s Banquet in beautiful Palm Springs. Together we can lead our members back to the basics of making the district meetings and yearly conference the cornerstone of CALI membership.

We, the Members of CALI, are the foremost, most educated, highest trained professionals in the Private Investigative World. It all starts at the district level and the success will culminate at the yearly conference. I ask you, the Governors, Directors, and Members to join me in this Pursuit of CALI Excellence.

Many Blessings to us all,

Joseph A. Travers, CPI, CCDI
