The Certified Professional Investigator (CPI) credential distinguishes professionals who have proven their commitment to the private investigation industry and have demonstrated the knowledge essential to this profession. The designation is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify industry professionals for their achievement.
Requirements to become a CPI: Be continuously licensed as a Private Investigator for the last three years. Achieve 10 Experience Credits within the past two years. Submit an application online and pay the applicable fee ($85 for CALI members, $350 for non-CALI members), and pass a 100 question written examination with a passing score of 70%.

Once your application is accepted you can take the CPI exam online through a link that will be emailed to you once your application has been accepted. Or, you can take a paper and pencil CPI Exam at the 2023 CALI Annual Conference!

Exame Time: 4:45 PM - 5:45 PM
You will need to submit your CPI exam application and pay the fee in advance of the conference.
